RICHMOND AND BEAUMONT

Creating a gateway from office to residential.

After decades of abandonment, a RIBA competition in 2006 commenced what renewal might be for the long redundant office blocks of Heath & Carby House.  After further years of inactivity, a local and relatively young entrepreneurial development company Randall Watts took up the challenge to convert two existing office blocks to create a new local landmark mixed use development located on the main A127 Victoria Avenue arterial in the heart of Southend on Sea.

Beaumont Court and Richmond House forms a new gateway with a striking new facade and consists of 280 apartments, over ten floors with several communal roof terraces, a new public square, retail units, a restaurant, and a gym.

The once empty and inactive buildings are now home to some 400 residents with a series of activated commercial spaces.
